The MTR (Mass-transit Railway) is an underground and over ground railway.

Buses run all over Hong Kong. First Bus, Citybus and KMB are three different bus companies.

You need to pay in cash or use an Octopus card when you get on a bus


There are three different coloured taxis in Hong Kong.

Red taxis are for Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. Green taxis are for the New Territories. Blue taxis are for Lantau Island.

Taxis can be the fastest way o get to your destination.


The tram runs on Hong Kong Island from the west to the east.

The tram is cheapest way to get around and only costs $2.

The Peak Tram

The Peak Tram takes people from Hong Kong Park to Hong Kong Peak. It is very poplar with tourists.



Mini-buses run all around Hong Kong. They have green roofs or red roofs.


In the New Territories you can take the LRT. It is a railway that runs down the street.

The Star Ferry

The star ferry runs between Central and Tsim Sha Tsui. It is the oldest ferry in Hong Kong still being used today.

If you want to visit Cheung Chau, Lamma, Peng Chau or Lantau you need to take a ferry.

Some ferries are fast and some are slow.
